The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is home to the best U.S. airport eatery, Surdyk’s Flights, according to the website Airfarewatchdog.com.  LINK

Locally, Surdyk’s is a favorite liquor store + gourmet cheese shop + deli that is unmatched by all other local liquor stores (even the ones that deliver).  I admire their knowledgeable staff, huge selection of alcohol and regularly discounted wine.  Their deli is excellent too.

FUN FACT: I had an ex who would get mad if I went to Surdyk’s and didn’t get him a deli sandwich, even if all they had was some sandwich with mushrooms on it and he HATED mushrooms.  No joke.  Their sandwiches are that good.

Additionally, the Surdyk’s deli features delicate macaroons and deserts, succulent meats, flavorful salads, complex sandwiches, hard-to-find ingredients and chocolates and pastas and, oh god.  I’m drooling.  PLUS they staff multiple cheese mongers at all hours of the day who will kindly guide you through their huge array of decadent cheeses.  I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Surdyk’s.

Surdyk’s Flight is the airport version of this deli, to put it plainly.

The only good thing about being in a long-distance relationship right now is that I get to eat at Surdyk’s Flights more than anyone I know.  In fact, I’m going there this weekend.  Jealous?  Yah, you are.

MSP: Get a goddamn Bloody Mary and a grilled sandwich before you hop the light rail into town.
